Marion Fromm
|
Marion Fromm is a woman on a
mission to bring about change and healing to landmine survivors in
Cambodia. While visiting Cambodia in 1997, Marion saw many landmine
disabled people begging, hungry, with no social service or way of
earning an income. Marion returned to Cambodia in 2004 to establish her
vision of a factory to employ landmine disabled people. She is giving
them new hope for their future, job security, and enabling them to
provide for the needs of their families and educate their children.
A church for the workers and their families meets in the factory, and
Marion has been the pastor for seven years.
Cambodian
Harvest Dried Fruit Factory
The factory manufactures products from locally grown fruit. These
products include Glacé Fruit made from mango, paw-paw, pineapple and
ginger, and a range of jams and pickles.
28 landmine survivors are employed, and the seven non-disabled staff
are driver, salespeople, and housekeeper. Cambodian Harvest plans to
employ 100 landmine disabled staff in a specially equipped factory. A
farm has been bought for this purpose, and a new factory is expected to
be built in the next 2 years.
